I'm so late, ugh. Not again thought Emery, as she looked over at her alarm clock. Still in her pajamas she quickly got up and searched the house. It was noon, she was supposed to be at work about an hour ago. Her house felt empty, she was hungry, late and this was just getting out of hand lately. She grabbed two pieces of bread, and threw them into the toaster. She then quickly made her way back up the stairs, of course she tripped half way up, she just got back up and continued up the stairs. She jumped into the shower, almost falling again but she caught herself this time. As she stepped out of the shower she was angry, she forgot to grab her clothes before her shower. She opened the bathroom door slowly, peering out. Though no one lived with her, Emery was just still used to checking. She ran to her room with a towel around her body, hitting her foot on her bed as she got into the room. When she opened her closet, her clothes weren't there, they were all gone. Just when she realized this the smoke alarm went off in her kitchen. As she opened her mouth to scream, she woke up in a cold sweat. She looked over at her alarm clock; it was ten-thirty in the morning. She had another hour and a half before she would have to wake up to get ready. Emery turned over to attempt to go back to sleep, she tossed and turned for a half an hour.
Then gave up on sleep and decided to go get ready now. She grabbed a tank top and a pair of gym shorts out of her closet. She then went into the bathroom, and got her water ready for a shower. She got undressed carefully, and got into the shower. If she wasn't careful she would end up hurting herself. She took a twenty minute shower, when she got out she wrapped a towel around her hair and her body. After she dried herself off she got dressed, and dried her hair with the towel she had wrapped around it. As she was getting ready she started to look back on what she did the night before. She had read tarot cards for some local elders. She thought about this as she brushed her dried hair, it decided to go into soft curls. She tied a piece of braided fabrics in her hair, and went to her room to get dressed in the clothes she would wear to work. She looked all around her closet and room for something to wear, then she came across something her grandmother had bought her on Emery’s eighteenth birthday, she put it on right away. A short white dress with lace on the top, after she got it one she added all the things she usually puts on her arms. Plus a few extras.
By the time she was ready it was twelve, just two more hours before she would have to be to work. She ate her toast that she had made with some orange juice. Read her own tarot cards for the day, just to make sure she would have a good day, then watched some television for a while. Until she realized it was one thirty-five. She put on some light brown flats that she slid on, she grabbed her purse, her sunglasses, and her car keys and she was off to Victoria’s Creations. After ten minutes of fighting with traffic she decided to stop off at Starbuck’s and get a Vanilla Bean Frappuccino. After that she was off to work, she got to work with ten minutes to spare. She walked in the front doors, slide off her giant sunglasses, put her keys in her purse and was sipping on her Starbucks as she made her way to the back to get her name badge. She was closing tonight, which was always a fun time. She let the other girl leave as soon as she got on the clock. She sat up behind the counter, watching the two older women in the corner whisper back and forth. Waiting on more customers to show up.
