Dark Wood Academy was first called Aldridge Castle, way back in the 1800's. The massive, old Irish castle has stood tall and has not ruined for that long, and it's a surprise that the Aldridge family hasn't sold it. After all, they are wealthy enough to just go and buy another castle; however, near the 1840's, James Iverson Aldridge renovated Aldridge Castle into a school for kids, and renamed it Dark Wood Academy. Ever since, it's stayed in the family, taking kids who prove they have talent, even in the most raw of situations.
And so Dark Wood Academy lives on. With it's many towers, unavailable to the students, and the winding staircases that lead only to dead ends, the castle holds not only students, but gruesome secrets. After all, the whole of the Aldridge history is not completely clear. Students claim that the Aldridge family, way back in medieval times, still lived in this castle; they say that they had prisoners locked in the towers and dungeons. Students always steer clear of this part of the castle-- the dungeons and towers are locked off, anyway.
However, despite the whispers that go around about tortured prisoners, the academy is still a place for learning. Dorms, teachers, cliques, love, hate, all of the chemistry of a high school locked in one big place. Who knows what's going to happen next?
